UIC Global Students Joining St. Patrick’s Day Parade
One holiday that is widely celebrated in Chicago is St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th every year. The whole city comes out and so did we, decked out in green hats for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. The day started off with the dyeing of the Chicago River a bright shade of green. We went out and watched the parade with more than 80 floats and then went to one of Chicago’s staple food stops, Lou Malnati’s for some world–famous, deep dish pizza! One of the biggest differences between Chicago–style pizza and pizza from anywhere else is that the crust is traditionally made with the addition of cornmeal and it is baked in a round pan versus on a flat stone. Cheese is in the middle and the sauce is on top. No matter what your pizza preferences are, you can’t come to Chicago and leave without tasting a slice of deep dish!
